| Hi Everyone,
I just found the American Alsatian a few weeks ago while I was doing research for a class. I am totally in love! In all that I read it seems that this breed has all the wonderful characteristics of my beloved Buddy GSD (RIP) and what I adore about the new love of my life, Perdy (gread dane), all in one big dog! I WANT ONE!
I will have to wait awhile as my pack is complete right now and bringing the "perfect" dog home might screw up the natural balance of things. For now I will have to be content with learning more about American Alsatian's and drooling over all your beautiful babies.
Please keep posting so I can learn and see more!

| Christa- Glad you made it here! Thank you for your compliments on the breed. I think Lois is a genius, too. To be so strong and determined to focus on health and temperament before looks is very bold. She's gotten a lot of flack from many who criticize how our dogs look too much like long-haired GSDs or Shiloh Shepherds. But, they are coming along in looks and I'm proud of their calm temperaments and great health. Looks will come in time. To be sure, we have many Dire Wolf aspects already and our dogs certainly aren't ugly. A good, stable breed is built slowly. Talk with you soon and again, welcome aboard! | I don't know why anyone would complain about the looks, they are beautiful!!!
I loved my Buddy, he was a beautiful German Shepherd with a perfect mask, I have never seen a GSD that I thought had a prettier face. What I didn't like about Buddy was his constant NEED to dominate every other dog. It was hard to fight what was his natural desire. I did love his smarts, and I did love his need to please me. I have learned a lot since Buddy passed and I am a much better owner now than I was back then.
When I read Lois's writings, and what she desired from this breed, it feels like she read my mind (looks and all)! What a wonderful call in life to have the guts and smarts to breed her idea of the perfect dog. Lois should not take any guff! American Alsatians are beautiful and if someone doesn't like their looks well....there's a lot of different looking dogs to choose from.[left] |

| Haha!! Thanks Tomsangell. Lois always says that while training dogs in southern California she would often get people with good hearts, but unruly dogs. She listened to their dreams for what they hoped to have in a dog... their currently unruly dog. Everyone in this unruly dog category wanted a dog with the following qualities: 1. no barking 2. no whining 3. easy to train 4. stayed close to home, dedicated to family 5. friendly, confident, no shy 6. not dog aggressive 7. no jumping 8. playful, yet not hyper So, she has often told me that she wondered why there wasn't a large dog out there like that. She really wondered if such a dog could even exist if a breeder bred for it. So, she created a temperament standard with her theory in place. She then wondered what the dog should look like to fit such a personality and came up with the large boned, stocky and heavier Dire Wolf. So, I guess, in a sense, she really did read your mind... before you even knew what you wanted. Haha! | I read the book "how to win friends and influence people" when i was about 12.. I was intreged by humans and thier characteristics and desires. Seems humans are really the same as me. We all want much of the same things in life. Once i found out what I wanted and what would make my life work with the least hassle to others, then i knew what all people wanted, a GOLD FISH.. LOL |

| Once I had a gold fish... I saw my mom give the dog a bath, and even the cat, so I thought I would help out. I filled the fish bowl with Joy soap and gentle washed my fish... That's when I learned dogs last longer than fish! LOL |
